Current Volunteer Opportunities

Meals on Wheels Driver

Drivers use our Meals on Wheels vehicles to deliver meals to homebound seniors who have limited or no means for meal preparation. You must have a valid California or Nevada Driver’s License, pass our provided background check and be at least 18 years of age. Drivers are needed Monday through Friday, starting at 10:30am. Routes take approximately 3 hours from picking up the food to dropping off coolers and hotboxes at the end of your route.

Drivers can participate as much as they like – Two days a week? One day a week? Once a month? Even as a backup when regular drivers can’t make it.

Congregate Dining Receptionist

Receptionists greet the seniors, collect contributions and record attendance as people come to eat at our dining site. If you are good at making people feel welcome, we would like to talk with you! Receptionists must be at least 18 years of age. Reception starts at 11:45am and ends at 1:00 pm.

Community Outreach

Use your people, social media, and/or organizational skills to help us get the word out about Meals on Wheels. Meet people by working our information table at community events. Work with staff on posting Facebook updates and creating email messages to our supporters. Finalize press releases and distribute to local media to keep us in the news. Help coordinate holiday deliveries of food and gifts. Hours are flexible based on availability and need.

Fundraising Support

Help keep the wheels on our meals rolling by assisting in raising funds for the program. Help at our quarterly pancake breakfast buffets and the spaghetti dinner bingo event. Meet people by working our information table at community events. Brainstorm with staff and other volunteers on ways to raise funds to support our program. Each event has different times and responsibilities so this task can be customized to work for you. Hours are flexible based on availability and need.

Committee Member

Help make decisions to impact the organization. Committees form for different reasons throughout the year so each one has a different time commitment. The Board of Directors meets monthly and is the only “standing” committee.  Lend your leadership skills to the organization!
