Chef Lutz is a well-trained, skilled chef with over 30 years of work in the restaurant industry. After two years in the Hotel & Restaurant Program at Diablo Valley College his formal training continued at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
David then trained under some of America’s top chefs, including six years working under Chefs Mitchell and Stephen Rosenthal at Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio in San Francisco. When David moved to Tahoe in 2004, he took over as Chef of Wild Goose Restaurant and the Tahoe Mountain Club and in 2006, Bon Appétit named Wild Goose as the restaurant serving the best food in Tahoe!
David fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own restaurant – Evergreen – in Tahoe City from 2008 through 2012. He is well versed in numerous cuisines such as Mediterranean, Asian and French which all contribute to his style as a New American Chef. Very few other Meals on Wheels programs offer the culinary expertise that our Chef David Lutz provides. Along with the delicious taste, these meals provide 1/3 of the minimum daily requirements for older adults and are low in sodium, cholesterol and fat.
